The next phase of my life was interesting I held management positions for Swiss Colony Cheese in Monroe WI, Macy’s Restaurants in New Jersey, and finally I moved to CT to take over a restaurant owned by Lenders, (as in Bagels). This restaurant was the busiest place I ever worked. I had 75 people reporting to me, with 6 assistant managers. Within three months I took it from losing money to a profit maker and it stayed that way for the two years while I held the position. My learnings from this experience; developing systems, enforcing accountability and standards, and team building. |
After two years at Lenders, I was getting bored, I wanted new challenges. So, I sort of decided on the second of the professions back from my high school years, except I was going to alter Electrician to Software Engineer. I started applying to College again, and obtained a full scholarship to the University of New Haven. The plan was going after a MS in Computer Software Engineering. |
I lasted with that dream until I hit a class called Data Structures. I did pass the class, but also decided on a course correct. I changed my major to a Master’s of Business Administration with a Management Information Sciences concentration. I learned a great deal during this time, everything I set my mind too isn’t necessarily the best for me, and it is alright to change in order to reach a goal. I also learned that I could teach, I was an Adjunct Professor during my tenure at the U of NH for Under Graduate and then Graduate Studies. I also set up the first computer lab for their School of Hospitality Management. I graduated with a 3.93/4.0. |
